Thinking of Relocating? Think Baltimore!

Thinking of Relocating? Think Baltimore!
Baltimore is a city with a rich culture and history, making it a city people can call home. Easy access to other cities makes it another reason people move here. Here are five reasons people want to move to Baltimore.

Baltimore Inner Harbor

While the Baltimore Inner Harbor is a popular tourist destination, the locals love it as well. Restaurants and shops make it a popular place to meet up with family and friends, or meet new people if you’re just moving to the city. Inner Harbor also offers tours of historic ships and cruises so locals can see the area from a different point of view. Whether you’re taking in the sites, or just going for a walk, you’re bound to find something to do at the Baltimore Inner Harbor.

Local Sports Teams

If you’re a fan of sports, Baltimore has a professional MLB baseball team and a professional NFL football team, as well as other minor league and college teams. People from the city are known as rabid sports fans and support their local teams at games with faces painted in team colors. Support the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and the Ravens during football season at M&T Stadium. Another local fact is that Babe Ruth was born in Baltimore; the Babe Ruth Museum is close to Oriole Park.

Easy Access to Major Cities

If you’re from the east coast, and you’re looking for a way to get back home for visits, Baltimore is the city for you. New York City, Washington DC, and Philadelphia are only a short drive away, and also easily accessible by Amtrak. Three airports are also in the area, Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International airport (BWI), the closest, is only 15 minutes from the downtown area. In addition to being a hangout for tourists and locals, Baltimore Inner Harbor is also a popular cruise terminal.

The Rich History

Baltimore is a city with a rich American history. The National Anthem was written during a battle at Baltimore’s Fort McHenry, where the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine describe the city’s role in the War of 1812. Mount Vernon Place is home to the Washington Monument, the first monument to commemorate American Independence, and climbing the 227 steps offers a great view of the neighborhood. The Fredrick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park offers insight into Baltimore’s shipbuilding industry.

Local Arts and Entertainment

Between the local museums and local breweries, there are a lot of options to explore and settle into the local scene. Breweries and Distilleries are a reason people move to an area, and Baltimore has many to check out, among them Heavy Seas, Baltimore Washington Beer Works, and The Brewers Art breweries are local favorites. Sagamore Spirit Distillery offers exhibits into how whiskey is made. Baltimore offers several museums, such as the American Visionary Art Museum, and the Baltimore Museum of Art.
