There are beautiful parks and creeks for all to enjoy along the way. If you enjoy walking or running with groups, this spot is a must-see.

Lake Kittamaqundi Trail

Located near Columbia, Maryland, the Lake Kittamanquindi Trail is a “green” trail for those who are beginners when it comes to hiking. The trail only takes an average of 24 minutes to complete, making it perfect for an afternoon trip or sunrise hike. This trail is known to be the home of beautiful bird species and is one of the quieter destinations on this list. Visitors say that prime times are between April and September for peak beauty! This location is also dog-friendly, so bring your furry friend!

Annapolis Rock

Annapolis Rock is one of the premiere hiking destinations for individuals from Howard County looking for a road trip. This trail leads to breathtakingly big views that are cast across the Cumberland Valley. You will be able to see all of Western Maryland from the trail, making it one of the most popular hiking destinations. On a clear day, hikers can enjoy views from both lookouts, as well as Greenbrier Lake.

This trail is also known for being a popular camping area for families, so pack your tents and backpacks! The campground has 16 sites, making it one of the largest ones in the area. All areas are also monitored by caretakers, making this a safe location to enjoy the great outdoors with children. Plus, there is no fee and spots are available on a first-come basis!

Rock climbers also enjoy this location, as the hike has more difficult trails for those who enjoy a challenge. Black Rock Cliff offers a panoramic view all can enjoy.

The Trolley Trail is a fun and easy 1.25-mile boardwalk with a paved trail, making it perfect for older families or bikers. The smooth path makes it easy for walkers and runners to keep a steady pace with low impact. The trail has heavily wooded sections and a beautiful stream running throughout.
